Police used a Taser to arrest a suspected knife-man in Coggeshall.
The town came to a stand-still during rush hour yesterday after officers received reports a man was in West Street armed with a knife.
The police helicopter, armed officers and the dog unit were sent to the area at 5.15pm and blocked off certain parts for public safety.
Armed officers deployed the Taser, which was introduced to the Essex force in August, on a man in Bridge Street just over an hour later.
- A 50-year-old man from the town has been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.
