A careless driver branded himself an idiot in court.
Christopher Robinson professed his stupidity at getting behind the wheel without a full licence and crashing the car injuring his girlfriend.
Magistrates heard he lost control of his Vauxhall on a bend in Sladbury's Lane, Holland-on-Sea, after driving over ice. The car smashed into a garden wall.
He admitted careless driving at Colchester Magistrates' Court yesterday, along with charges of driving other than in accordance with a licence and with no insurance.
The 24-year-old told the bench: "I'm really sorry for any inconvenince. I was an idiot."
The bench fined Robinson, of Aldburgh Close, Clacton, £260, with £35 costs, and put six points on his provisional licence.
