With elections a few weeks away, I find it laughable that the “big idea” from Colchester Conservatives is about flying the Union Flag at the council’s offices at Sheepen Road, Colchester.
Perhaps they think it will divert attention from their financial black hole – the Visual Arts Facility.
I would like to point out flying our national flag from council buildings was not always Tory policy. Less than three years ago, when the council was run by the Tories, the group demanding the flag be flown at Rowan House was not flying it daily at the Town Hall. They were shamed into doing so.
As political stunts go, using our national flag as Colchester Conservatives are now is unworthy.
