Colchester United favourite Aidan Davison will not make a decision about his future until the end of the season.

The much-travelled U's goalkeeper - who is not far short of his 38th birthday - revealed: "I'm definitely going to wait until the season is over before I even start thinking about hanging my boots up for the last time."

Davison made a pledge to his wife Christine back in 2003 that he would retire from football to go and live in her native America.

But the pull of the English League game has proved too overpowering and Mrs Davison is still waiting to return to the USA.

"There's no doubt that we will eventually go to live in America," said former Northern Ireland international Davison, one of the heroes of the U's fantastic season.

"But Christine has had 15 years to learn the offside rule so a few more weeks won't make much difference."
