SUPERMARKET giant Asda is just days away from sealing a deal that would see them open a clothing store on the site of the old Odeon cinema, in Southend High Street.

The firm is locked in talks with the University of Essex Southend to use the ground floor of its new building as a George store, selling its own brand of clothes.

The property is still under construction, but if all goes well, Asda will open a new 10,000sq ft shop on the site by the end of the year, creating 30 new jobs.
