KIND-HEARTED drinkers at a Billericay pub have thrown away more than £270.

Luckily, the money was thrown in to the King's Head's Billericay Lions Wishing Well, and has now been collected up to be distributed to local charities.

Lions spokesman Stan Harrison thanked regulars at the pub, in Southend Road, South Green.

He said: "We expected to find between £70 and £100 in there, so to find £273 was fantastic.

"We are very grateful to everyone who contributed, as well as landlord Billy Crighton for allowing us to have the wishing well in the pub."
