Armed robbers hit a man over the head with a wooden pole and fled with cash taken from a sports club.
The crooks struck at the Anchor Press Social and Sports Club in Tiptree.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was working at the premises in Grove Road when two men entered at about 9.25am yesterday.
They demanded cash before hitting him over the head with the makeshift weapon.
They then went into the office and stole a large sum of cash before making off.
