Developers of new houses in Braintree have blamed Essex County Council for holding up the building of a new cycleway and footpath.

Countryside Properties, which has been building houses and flats at Gypsy Corner, off Panfield Lane, Braintree, has said the reason the footpath has not yet been built is because the county council is querying them over joining it to another path.
A spokesman for Countryside said: "This query from the council came from them about six months ago.
"We went back to them and answered their query and it has recently come back on the same point again.
"Their point relates to two footpaths linking up. Braintree Council is very much behind us to get it done."
Anne Proudfoot, spokesman for Braintree Council, said: "Until that dispute is resolved we can't take the process any further."
