A motorcyclist died after his bike hit a tree.
The accident happened just after 9pm last night in Bovingdon Road, Braintree.
The 29-year-old man, of Braintree, lost control of his black Yamaha motorbike. He was confirmed dead at the scene.
He was the first motorcyclist to die on Essex roads this year.
Police closed the road for just over five hours and are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information should ring officers on 01376 330722.
