Concerns about travel were raised as plans to shake up cancer services in Essex were discussed.
Medical staff and patients' representatives debated the Essex Strategic Health Authority's (SHA) plan to create specialist surgical centres for rare cancers at a meeting at the Greenstead community centre last night.
The SHA's Dr Pam Hall was questioned over how patients would travel to the proposed centres using public transport.
Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford - the favoured location for upper gastro-intestinal and head and neck cancer centres - was described as "a nightmare to get to".
