AMBITIOUS plans to transform Basildon town centre as part of a blueprint worth hundreds of millions of pounds was finally revealed today.
Up to 3,000 new homes will be built in the town centre over the next 20 years as part of the 2030 vision masterplan unveiled by Basildon Council.
The document confirms plans revealed in the Echo last summer to bulldoze the ailing Towngate Theatre and Basildon Centre and rebuild them in a merged civic centre including an arts complex and shops, cafes, bars and restaurants where the market now stands.
