Colchester United's stunning run of wins means it's Christmas every week for U's fans - and one young supporter in particular.
Superstitious mind - David Birkin, 9, still wearing his Colchester United Christmas hat for good luck. Picture: STEVE BRADING (47547-b)
Nine-year-old season ticket-holder David Birkin has worn a blue and white Santa hat for every match of the club's ten-game winning streak.
The Alresford Primary pupil is terrified he will jinx his heroes if he turns up without the festive headgear - and swears he will still be wearing it in May if the success continues.
Mum Liz said: "He always wears the hat and his yellow away shirt. It looks pretty silly now we are in February, but he refuses to take it off."
David is one of dozens of fans who have owned up to match day superstitions after the Evening Gazette told how Little Clacton man Simon Williams keeps a lucky apple in his bag to bring the U's luck.
