TESTS have begun to discover if air around Pitsea flyover is breaching Government safety levels.
Basildon Council ordered urgent tests near the A13 amid fears over mounting pollution levels, after analysis based on old data indicated an area within a 20m radius of the flyover and just metres from people's homes on the Chestnut Road Estate had a concentration of pollution higher than Government standards.
A council spokesman said the results could take up to six months to be revealed.
