Aidan Davison has told his young goalkeeping prodigy Dean Gerken he will have to wait it out again.
Colchester United's number one returned between the sticks to replace youngster Gerken on Saturday in the U's 3-1 win over Bradford City.
Gerken had played in the club's last three games - all of them wins - but manager Phil Parkinson went for Davison's experience at the weekend.
Davision said: "Every time Dean has come in he has played well, and this is no secret.
"We all know how good a goalkeeper he is. For all of us at the club, he's got real quality. He has to be patient, though, and we will monitor his progress carefully.
"When he has come into the team I have been the first to congratulate him and I think he's got a bright future."
