The West Mersea branch of Lloyds TSB bank is to shut in April, it has been revealed.
Notices have been put up at the branch in the island's High Street to forewarn customers of the closure.
A spokesman for Lloyds TSB, said: "After a review of the presence of the branch in the High Street, it was felt the most suitable option was to close.
"It is a small branch that is only open part-time three days a week for basic banking services.
"After the review, it was decided it would be better to put the resources into the Colchester branch, making that bigger and better."
