Cabbies are outraged they were not consulted on plans to move taxi ranks and create one-way roads as part of a £2 million revamp.
Tendring's taxi associations have joined forces to fight the changes.
"Nobody has consulted us," said John Brigden, chairman of Tendring District Taxi Association. "It's disgusting."
"The people who have made these decisions probably don't know Clacton very well but they've moved all our ranks and changed the roads around."
A spokesman for Essex County Council said letters are being sent to all taxi drivers operating in Clacton as an invitation for their comments on the plans.
