SURFBOARDING and beach volleyball facilities could soon transform the beach along Southend's Golden Mile.
This week, councillors look set to back plans proposed in a consultant's report for regeneration company Renaissance Southend.
The proposals aim to revamp and revitalise the area around the existing Jubilee Beach and include plans for "cool" beach facilities to raise its profile among young people.
Getting the urban beach proposals under way is a major recommendation from the pier and foreshore working party, which will be considered by the Southend Council's cabinet on Thursday.
