A WOMAN was knocked unconscious and sexually assaulted as she carried shopping bags into her home.
The victim, aged in her 20s, was also robbed during the attack in the Delaware Road area of Shoebury.
Her attacker pounced as she entered her flat carrying supermarket shopping bags. Her mouth was covered as she was grabbed from behind. She then lost consciousness.
Police believe the woman was sexually assaulted while unconscious although they are waiting on the results of forensic tests to confirm this.
