BASILDON snooker professional Stuart Bingham came close to pulling off one of the sport's greatest ever Houdini acts at Wembley last night before the sands of time ran out on him against Dubai based Peter Ebdon in the Saga Insurance Masters.
Level at 2-2 at the interval, Bingham was hit by a superb run of form from the former world champion who won three frames in a row and chalked up 409 unanswered points at one stage.
That put Ebdon 5-2 ahead in the best of 11 affair before Bingham hit back to win the next two.
And although Ebdon eventually secured a 6-4 win it was still a performance of real character from Bingham who was still troubled from a flu like virus.
