Multi-millionaire businessman Robin Tomkins has sold off the thriving shopping complex he created.
Robin Tomkins - described the Triangle shopping centre as one of his biggest gambles. (8492-33)
In a deal worth millions of pounds, Frinton's Triangle shopping centre has been sold to Colchester-based NEEB Holdings.
A spokesman for Mr Tomkins' company said the new owners were looking to smarten up the 1960s development.
Jeremy Newman, director of Newman Commercial, commercial property consultants acting for Mr Tomkins' Frinton-based firm, said: "It will be business as usual."
Mr Newman would not disclose the exact amount of the sale, but he said it was a "substantial amount".
Mr Tomkins, 78, described the centre, which was built outside the traditional town boundaries, as "one of my biggest gambles".
A spokesman for Frincon Securities denied it was selling off its assets. He said: "We are very much alive and kicking. In fact, we are just about to start two office projects in Colchester."
