A despicable crook was today slammed for stealing from a pensioner with Alzheimer's.
"This is clearly the lower level of criminality of which they should be ashamed," Colchester Det Sgt Danny Stoten said.
The doorstep thief called on the 71-year-old woman in Greenstead at 6pm yesterday.
He pushed past the vulnerable victim and rummaged around in her living room and kitchen. The raider got his hands on a blue purse containing £40 and fled the scene.
The raider was described as 6ft tall with dark hair. Anyone with information should call Colchester CID on 01206 762212.
