Richard Naylor today hit back at suggestions he incited a post-match feud with Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock.
Stewards had to intervene when the pair clashed after the final whistle of Ipswich Town's 1-1 Coca-Cola Championship draw with the Blades at Portman Road.
Blues defender Naylor was angered by the way Warnock gestured to the home crowd, after watching his side secure a late share of the spoils.
He held his two index fingers up - signalling the final score - having earlier been taunted when it was 1-0.
The Blades boss later accused Naylor of 'jumping the gun', but the latter hit back by saying: "I didn't incite anything - I was trying to calm things down.
"He was heading towards our fans and I just told him to get back to the dressing room.
"There might have been a problem if anyone had taken offence, and that could have led to a situation which may have been detrimental to our club."
Naylor added: "I didn't like what he was doing."
