AN unqualified doctor who worked as a gynaecologist at Southend and Basildon hospitals faces being kicked out of the profession.

Dr Henry Akpata, 62, qualified as a doctor in Germany, but was not eligible to work in the UK. He failed a membership exam for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists three times, but still delivered babies and helped perform Caesarean section operations.

A hearing is deciding whether he is fit to practice.
