SOUTHEND captain Ben Green was left to reflect on a Jekyll and Hyde performance from his side as they lost at Bridgwater & Albion for the second time in eight days.
The Seasiders' previous visit had ended in a 19-13 setback in the Powergen National Trophy, which cost them a plumb home tie with Harlequins.
But any hopes of gaining revenge in Saturday's National Division Three South trip were extinguished by a second-half Southend collapse that saw Bridgewater win 30-18.
"The first 50 minutes of the game was the best rugby we have played this season," said a completely gobsmacked Green.
"Unfortunately the last 30 minutes was the most ill disciplined we've played.
"It's so disappointing to have travelled home knowing we could have won the game.
"But if we can build on the display in the first 50 minutes we will have the chance to win future league games."
