Park Resorts, which owns Highfield Holiday Park, in London Road, Clacton, is pumping most of the cash into a swimming pool at the site.
The move will create a number of jobs, with more visitors expected next summer.
Highfield employs up to 135 full and part-time staff in the season, and that will rise by about ten per cent.
General manager Rob Jenkins said work had already started on the project.
It was expected to be finished by April, and certainly in time for Easter.
"This is a huge investment but we feel it will pay off, as it means that the swimming pool will have both an indoor and outdoor element to it," he said.
