DETECTIVES were today searching for a car they believe may lead them to the murderer who torched Andrea Daly's home.

A small white hatchback was spotted with its engine running near the family home in Rochford Road, Southend, about an hour before the attack.

A police spokesman said: "Police need to trace the car and its driver.

"We would urge the man in the car to come forward or ask anyone with any information about his identity to contact us."

* A mobile police station has been set up in Rochford Road for people to talk to detectives.

Police have urged anyone with information about the murder to contact detectives at the mobile police station or at the incident room at Brentwood on 01277 262220.

Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or Southend Police on 01702 431212.
