Two first-half goals were enough for Tottenham Hotspur Reserves to beat Ipswich Town's second string at Portman Road last night.

The result may not have gone the Blues' way, but there were positives for Town as first-team striker Adam Proudlock put in a good performance and Ian Westlake came through a full 90 minutes.

The 22-year-old midfielder continued his recovery from an ankle ligament injury by completing the match and almost gave Town the lead in the opening couple of minutes when he just failed to convert a cross from Jaime Peters.

Proudlock then had another opportunity to open Ipswich's account, but his shot was wide, before hitting the post soon after.

Ipswich were regretting their misses before the break, though, as Spurs took the lead on 22 minutes.

Kieron McKenna's shot was deflected more than once, but somehow found its way past Shane Supple in the home goal.

And it was 2-0 13 minutes later as Lee Barnard was in the right place to slide the ball home.

The second-half saw Tottenham go close again as they dominated the match, but Supple was in good form as he kept the Premiership side's second string at bay.

Town were unfortunate to not pull one back late on when Proudlock went close again, but his shot was well blocked.
