Canine capers has raised more than £1,000 for charity.

The Coastal Dogathon for Headway Essex, which helps brain injury patients and their families, saw dogs pound the streets for the cause.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes took part in a sponsored walk along the seafront from Holland-on-Sea to Clacton last month.

Organisers have now added up the sponsorship money, which reached £1,500.

Mary Beverley, fundraising co-ordinator, said: "We are delighted. We would like to thanks Pets at Home in Colchester for the prizes, the help we had from Tendring Council, all the volunteers and walkers."

The top dog, which raised the highest amount, was a canine called Lily Savage from St Osyth.
