Police were today investigating allegations of a serious sexual assault.

A woman in her 30s claimed she was attacked in the graveyard area near the Arts Centre in Colchester.
Part of the grounds of the former St Mary's Church, between Balkerne Hill and Church Street, had been cordoned off with police tape in the early hours of today.
Police confirmed they were investigating an incident which was alleged to have taken place overnight.
