Colchester United are starting to become something very special.

The team is in a real magical spell now after they claimed their third win in a row with victory over Rotherham United at Millmoor.

The early season woe of indifferent performances have given way as Phil Parkinson's side have begun to gel together and are now really starting to produce the goods.

Not too long ago, going a goal down would have been the end for Colchester United in a game. However, in the last few weeks a new U's side has started to show its head.

It is a determined and gritty one. A side that is mentally tougher than it has been in the past.

It first became evident against Yeovil Town where Parkinson's charges battled back not once, but twice from a goal down. So when Deon Burton hit the Millers ahead on 22 minutes from the penalty spot there were no thoughts of game over. It was, however, an unfortunate way to go behind.

The U's took that pressure into the restart and upped the ante. Within ten minutes justice was served when the U's drew level thanks to a bit of good fortune.

Kevin Watson's initial corner had been repelled by the Rotherham defence.

However, the ball came back to the skipper and he delivered a cross into the danger area looking for a U's player. However, rather than finding the feet of Chris Iwelumo or Neil Danns it fell to Rotherham's Shaun Barker who was sliding in trying to clear the ball and only succeeded in putting it through his own net.

The U's were not going to settle with a draw, though. Parkinson brought on some fresh legs by replacing the left side of White and Mark Yeates with Karl Duguid and Richard Garcia.

On 86 minutes, with one of his first touches, Garcia won the ball on the halfway line and fed Danns a great ball for him to race towards goal.

The former Blackburn Rovers man made space before firing a low cross to Iwelumo who had no trouble converting from close range, sending the travelling U's faithful delirious.
