MURDER squad detectives believe clothes smelling of petrol could hold the key to finding the murderer of a middle-aged woman killed in an arson attack on her home.
Police want anyone who smelled the flammable liquid on the clothes of a friend or relative after 3.30am on Thursday, to contact officers immediately.
A murder inquiry has now been launched into the death of Andrea Daly, 40, who died of smoke inhalation during the blaze at her home, in Rochford Road, Southend, last week.
Her two sons aged 17 and 20 jumped to safety from an upstairs window.
