GRAYS travel to managerless Crawley Town on Saturday hoping to preserve the only unbeaten record in the Conference.

Town boss, Francis Vines, paid the price for a poor start to the season and was sacked on Thursday after the club's new backers lost patience with the ex-Woking man.

Mark Stimson is unlikely to make any changes from the side that comprehensively beat Cambridge United 5-3 on Tuesday night with ex-Spurs keeper, Nicky Eyre likely to retain his place between the sticks despite conceding three on his first start of the season.

"Nicky came in against Cambridge and did well," said Stimson. "He didn't really have a chance with any of the three goals and made some good stops. "You don't normally change a winning side but we'll see."

One man who is certain to start tomorrow is Tuesday's hat-trick hero, Jamie Slabber, who will be looking to develop further his blossoming partnership with Dennis Oli.

"They have looked good together," confessed Stimson. "Jamie's a very clever player and Dennis has got a lot of pace and they seem to blend well.

"Jamie's looking fit and sharp and if he can get three or four games under his belt then he's going to be a real handful at this level."

Stimson says that though confidence maybe riding high at Grays at the moment they won't be under-estimating a Crawley side who, in contrast, have won just once all season.

"They've had a strange start," he said. "At the start of the season I predicted they would be in the top three or four at the end of the season so we know it will be a difficult game.

"They've got a good pitch down there and if we can spray the ball about like we did in the first half against Cambridge then we are always capable of scoring goals.

"But we also know that with someone like Daryl Clare in their side then they're going to get chances as well."
