CRICKET is right back in the spotlight after a thrilling summer of glory for England, and Essex are hoping to reap the benefits.
The sport has enjoyed a surge in popularity nationally thanks to the exploits of Michael Vaughan's Ashes heroes.
Locally Essex weighed in with a golden season of their own and chief executive David East is looking forward to building on that.
"What's happened over the last few weeks has brought cricket right back to the fore, there's no question about that," said the former wicketkeeper.
"Real enthusiasm about the game has been generated over the summer and especially towards the end of the Ashes series.
"We've had our own celebrations already when the Totesport Trophy was presented last Sunday, and when next season's fixtures are announced in October we will start to push next year's cricket.
"We have plans to keep the sport in people's minds over the winter and maximise awareness of next summer."
