A bungling burglar was showered with glass as he fled from a furious pub landlord today.

The bloodstained raider dropped two bags of cash after fleeing the Ancient Briton pub, in Iceni Way, Shrub End, Colchester, at about 4am.

Landlord Terry Clarke was woken when he heard the alarm going off and went downstairs to investigate.

Seeing Mr Clarke coming, the crook kicked in a pane of glass and jumped 7ft to the ground to make his escape. He left behind two bags of cash containing about £60.

The raider was described as white, in his early 30s, with a bald head and wearing a jumper. He was also covered in blood.
