A glider pilot who died in an accident at an Essex airfield has been named.
Peter Manley, 74, of Ashen Road in Clare, Suffolk,, was taking off from Ridgewell Airfield on the Essex/Suffolk boarder on Saturday when it is believed the winch cable launching his aircraft snapped and the glider fell 300ft to the ground.
Ambulances were sent to the scene but paramedics declared him dead.
A post-mortem examination suggested the provisional cause of death was multiple injuries.
An inquest is due to be opened and adjourned today.
