Complaints over schoolchildren waiting long periods before being able to catch trains to and from school have led to a timetable revamp.

Train operator One has added a stop at Kelvedon on the 3.32pm service from London to Colchester for pupils who have up until now faced difficulties getting home.

The train company has announced the changes to its services which it says "reflect customer and stakeholder feedback".

Members of the Kelvedon Rail Users Association have been campaigning for the extra stop for up to ten months, and the Gazette reported in April that the group had begged One not to ignore the village.

Mark Leslie, chairman of the group, said: "I had an e-mail about it six weeks ago telling me they were going to do that.

"It is about time. It certainly should solve the problem for the schoolchildren.

"It is just a shame it has taken them a year to do it."
