Police believe a teenage burglar stole a stereo from a car and tried to break into a house.
The occupant of a house in The Street, Weeley, was woken up when he heard a window smash.
He saw a teenage boy outside, who was trying to take a CD player from the window sill after he had smashed the glass.
The offender ran off when he was disturbed. A Ford Escort car had been broken into just yards away. The stereo had been taken, it was later discovered.
