Clacton Town have parted company with manager John Daniels.

The Seasiders boss was relieved of his duties after Tuesday's 4-0 Ridgeons League premier division defeat at home to Woodbridge.

Having been operating as caretaker boss, Daniels was given the job on a permanent basis the weekend before last - after his side's 9-1 FA Cup demise at Brook House.

But his reign lasted just three games - a 2-0 defeat against Waltham Abbey in the Essex Senior Cup, Saturday's 7-0 setback at home to Lowestoft and then Tuesday's reverse at the hands of Woodbridge.

Daniels described the news as a 'massive kick in the teeth' and told the Gazette: "I'm extremely disappointed. I've tried so hard and always been loyal and honest.

"Surely if I was good enough to do the job three games ago I'm still good enough now? I refuse to get involved in a war of words with the club, but I'm hurt and disappointed."

Town acting chairman Mick Broadbent confirmed the news and hopes Daniels will agree to stay on in a different capacity at the Rush Green Bowl.
