Family and friends of a teenager fighting leukaemia are appealing for life-saving donors to come forward.

Luisa Docherty, 15, is facing her second battle against the disease after suffering a relapse.

She has been in Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, since doctors discovered she was ill again six weeks ago.

Her grandmother Frances Vincent said Luisa, of Oakley Road, Dovercourt, was having intensive chemotherapy.

Tests are being carried out on her blood to see if she might be suitable to have a bone marrow transplant. Mrs Vincent said if that was the case, Luisa would need a donor match.

She said: "None of her family are a match for Luisa and so she would need a donor from the register. We are trying to set up a clinic to get more donors to help Luisa and other people who may need a bone marrow transplant."

If you are interested in becoming a potential donor, call Margaret Smith on 01255 886576, Kate Aggett on 01255 553134 or Frances Vincent (evenings) on 01255 552109.
