TWO of Canvey's oldest residents have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Bill Monk, 94, and wife Lillian, 90, were joined by family and friends at the Oysterfleet Hotel to toast the landmark with champagne.
They attended a get together organised by neighbours, Dr Alan Whitcomb and his wife Lynne, which was also visited by Channel 5 presenter Matthew Wright who is a family friend.
The couple lived and worked together in Enfield throughout their working lives, before buying a holiday caravan at Thorney Bay holiday park, Canvey, in 1965. Ten years later, they decided to move to Canvey permanently, buying a house in Hawkesbury Road.
