Residents are getting rattled by the prospect of a skateboard park being built on their doorstep.

People near the proposed site in Wivenhoe's King George V playing fields fear the racket from skateboard ramps will be a din too far.

Michael Taylor-Jones lives just 25m from the site the town council has earmarked for the facility.

"Skateboarding is an extremely noisy activity," said Mr Taylor-Jones, of Clifton Terrace.

"The only way really to reduce the noise is by distance - if you double the distance you quarter the noise."

Mr Taylor-Jones insists they are not against a skateboard park but want it built further away from homes.

The council hopes to get the facility up and running by next Easter.
