Two brothers have appeared in court accused of murder.
Mark and Andrew Fredericks were brought into the dock at Colchester Magistrates' Court in handcuffs on Friday.
Andrew Fredericks mouthed "I love you" to a woman in the public gallery before both men spoke to confirm their names and ages.
The brothers are jointly charged with the murder of Westley Odger, who died following an altercation at a cashpoint in Hunwicke Road, Greenstead, last Monday.
The 27-year-old, of Jack Andrews Drive, Colchester, suffered a knife wound to the neck and died later at the town's hospital.
He had cycled to the Forbuoys cashpoint to withdraw money at about 3pm.
No charges were put to Mark Fredericks, 36, of Avon Way, Colchester, and Andrew Fredericks, 31, of Compton Road, Colchester.
No application for bail was made and the pair were remanded in custody until November 21.
