STAFF who lost their jobs at Lakeside Shopping Centre's Allders store could find themselves back in their old workplace soon.

The three floor store is to reopen next month under the Primark name and former Allders staff who were made redundant in March have been told they will be fast tracked into the recruitment system.

There are nearly 300 vacancies at the new store and Jobcentre Plus is working with Primark to help fill the positions.

A recruitment open day is being held at Grays Jobcentre Plus, 2 Derby Road, Grays, on Saturday, September 24 between 10am and 3pm.

The application process is quite lengthy so people are being advised to come and be prepared to wait and not to bring children.

People from Primark will be present throughout the day to talk to interested applicants about the vacancies on offer and how to apply.

The new store will need skills ranging from sales, merchandising, cash office and stock room to management opportunities.

There will be full and part time hours available including weekdays and weekend shifts.

Helen Ford, Marketing Manager for Grays Jobcentre Plus said: "The store manager, , Cheryl Bond, is very interested in hearing from any ex-Allders staff as they can be fast tracked into Primark's recruitment system due to their previous experience.

Any ex-Allders staff who would be interested need only phone Rose at Tilbury Jobcentre Plus on 01375 812921 for application details."

The new store will open on Thursday, October 27.
