Police have launched an appeal for a man who chased two girls with a kitchen knife.
The 12-year-olds were playing in a park in Dovercourt when the man jumped out of bushes and rushed at them.
When he pulled out the knife, the terrified girls ran away and managed to escape him.
Police want to catch the man before he tries to attack anyone else.
PC Tim Harris, of Harwich police, said: "The two girls had a nasty experience while playing in the area of the Hangings, close to Parkeston Road.
"He jumped out of the bushes and chased after them, pulling out a kitchen knife, which he appeared to try to use on one of the girls as they ran."
