A Braintree police officer has been recognised for his for his role in the investigation of a triple murder.
Det Con Christopher Winstone, of Braintree police, was presented with a certificate for the high degree of professionalism and commitment he showed during the inquiry into the Rettendon murders in 1995 in which three men were found shot dead.
Michael Steele, 55, formerly of St Mary's Road, Aingers Green, and Jack Whomes, 36, from Brockford in Suffolk, are serving life sentences after being convicted of the murders of drug barons Pat Tate, Anthony Tucker and Craig Rolfe.
Det Con Winstone has now been awarded his certificate by Chief Constable David Stevens at a ceremony at the Essex Police headquarters in Chelmsford.
