A popular banker closed his account with a novel celebration - as 120 staff and customers descended on Peter Pan's Adventure Playground.

Joe Harrington, who has been business centre manager of Barclays Bank in Southend for ten years, officially retires on December 31.

In planning a send-off, he decided he wanted something different, so he opted to take colleagues and customers to the seafront attraction.

Jo Pullinger, corporate team administrator, said: "He is very popular and has been here for a long time, so quite a few people wanted to say their goodbyes."

He was presented with a watercolour painting and a cheque from a collection taken.
