Southend United Independent Supporters Club is unveiling a plaque to former Blues manager David Jack - and they want your help.

David's daughter Georgina will be travelling to Westcliff from Plymouth to unveil the plaque at her father's childhood home in Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff, at 1pm on Saturday before the Blues play Plymouth Argyle.

The club is trying to arrange for friends of the former St Bernard's High School, Westcliff, schoolgirl to meet her on the day.

David Jack was the son of Southend United's first manager Bob Jack, who was in charge from 1906 to 1910.

David was the first England player to score at Wembley and played for Arsenal, Bolton Wanderers and Plymouth.

He managed Southend from May 1934 until August 1940 and later managed Middlesborough and Irish League side Shelbourne.

David was the the southern region scout for Southend until his death on September 10, 1958 at the age of 59 years.
