Youngsters at Basildon Library had a treat when a wily fox paid them a visit.
The bushy-tailed character, well-loved by children for his antics in the Animals of Farthing Wood stories, read to them, played games and lent his paws to a spot of colouring in.
He entertained under-fives at the library in St Martin's Square as part of the activities organised to celebrate the National Year of Reading.
Basildon Library has a wide range of children's tales, including tiny baby books and teenage stories, and any youngsters are welcome.
