The driver of a powerful Ford Sierra 4x4 car was killed in a crash in south Essex last night.
The 47-year-old man, from Church Park Road, Pitsea, died in Basildon hospital.
The Sierra was the only vehicle involved in the crash, on the A132 South Main, in Basildon.
Police said the road was damp at the time.
They are appealing for anyone who saw the Sierra being driven before the crash to contact them on 01268 541312.
