Chelmsford Athletic Club's Keith Cullen rounded off his cross country year with what Brendan Foster described as one of his best runs.
Cullen was the first Briton home in the European cross country championships at the undulating parkland course at Ferrara, Italy.
With the occasional hurdle in between the grassy stretches, the 9.7kms seemed to suit Keith who did not seem to be affected by the cold weather.
Always well up in the main bunch he did not fade this time and finished a respectable 10th.
It will be interesting to see whether Cullen can now translate his prowess over the country on the track.
He will hope to do much better than he has shown on the track in previous seasons.
The winner, unexpectedly, on Sunday was Sergi Lebid, from the Ukraine, whose agression was too much Belgium's Mohamed Mourhit and France's Driss El Himer.
